About Us

Stockport NASUWT is the largest teachers’ association in Stockport representing over 1600 serving teachers in all education sectors and types of schools. It is part of the NASUWT, the largest teacher organisation in the UK.

Stockport NASUWT works tirelessly on behalf of its members throughout the year providing help, advice and support to individuals and groups plus engaging in negotiations with the Local Authority and individual schools. A full record of the years activities is given each year in the Annual Report delivered by the Secretary to the AGM in January or February. Regular updates are provided by the Secretary monthly.

Our local office is at is the North West Regional Centre, where full time staff who can be contacted directly by members for support.

In Stockport we hold general meetings, usually half termly and produce newsletters on a regular basis, which are distributed to all members. Our main function is to support Stockport members, which is done on a personal level or through our range of courses, both local and national.

Becoming more involved

The NASUWT is a democratic, member-led organisation which operates to defend and advance members’ interests. This is done with the participation of the members who can get involved as workplace representatives, by joining the local Executive Committee (EC), by attending General Meetings and events and as Conference delegates or voting for Conference motions.
